Phil Ravita is one of the Mid-Atlantic’s most versatile and sought-after bassists, working across jazz and classical from Baltimore. He leads Ravita Jazz and is president and principal bass of the Baltimore Philharmonia Orchestra, and has shared the stage with Jimmy Heath, Bobby Shew, Claudio Roditi and Ruby Glover. Dr. Ravita holds a master’s degree in jazz performance from the University of Maryland and a doctorate in music education from Boston University, and is a Maryland State Arts Council Touring Artist. Ravita Jazz released Alice Blue in May 2025, following Oriana (2023) and Jagged Spaces (2021).
